TRAGIC LOVE IN VLADIMIR NABOKOV’S LOLITA
Lolita was written by Vladimir Nabokov, who was a Russian and American novelist, poet, translator and entomologist. He published novels, short stories, plays, poems, and translation in Russian language. His first nine novels were written inRussian, but he achieved international prominence after he began writing English prose. He was awarded the American National Medal for literature. Then he died in 1977. Lolita novel shows the pedophile desires and restrictions of Humbert which led him to personal disaster. This research is divided in to five chapters. It shows the development of American literature, author introduction, contemporary writers of Vlad imir Nabokov and introduction to Lolita. The story deals with style and narrative techniques of the author. It contains the major and minor characters analyses in the novel, Lolita. It shows the Humbert, thirty seven years old who is overly obsessed with a nymphet named Dolores Haze whom he calls her as Lolita. The story shows the misery of life and death of Humbert and Lolita.
