Ruskin Bond is considered to be an icon among writers and children's authors. He was awarded the padmashree in 1999 for contributions to children's literature. Ruskin Bond was born towards the end of the British raj. Most of his novellas and short stories hide a fervent quest for identity, the concerns of which are historically and culturally inflected. THE BLUE UMBRELLA is the novella written by Ruskin Bond. Novella is shorter than the novel and longer than short story. In this story Ram Bharosa and Bhinya are the portrayal of human characters . The deals with the background study of Indian literature, It also speaks about Ruskin Bond and his Contemporary writers and about his novel The Blue Umbrella . It focuses on Ruskin Bond's Narrative style and Techniques. The story deals with the Dramatis Personae of novel. It discusses the theme on the importance of kindness in everyday life of the novel the Blue Umbrella. The novel deals with the conclusion and the further research suggestions.
