SYNTHESIS AND SPECTRAL INVESTIGATION OF CERIUM-HYDROXYAPATITE (Ce/HA) POWDER FOR BIOMEDICAL APPLICATION

Synthetic hydroxyapatite (HAP, Ca 10 (PO 4) 6 (OH) 2) is a well-known bio material used in orthopaedic and biomedical applications due to its excellent biocompatibility and bone-bonding ability. For this purpose, Cerium substituted HA (Ce/HA) nanomaterials were synthesized by chemical precipitation technique. Presently several consideration was done in the substitution with HA. For their better bonding ability, Ce is substituted with HA. Hence the antibacterial activity is increased by Ce/HA substitution. These substitutions were enhancing their physical and biological property. The as prepared powder was characterized by X-ray analysis, FTIR, Scanning electron microscope (SEM), Elemental analysis, Antibacterial activity and cell viability.
