PRODUCT FLOW PLANNING AND DECISION SUPPORT SYSTEM

Product flow planning is a complex task that involves determining the optimal quantities of products to produce, when to produce them, and where to store them. This project proposes an interactive intelligent decision support system (IDSS) for product flow planning in the presence of demand uncertainty.The IDSS works in a multi-product, multi-period configuration and aims to maximize the firm's profits over time. The system first obtains the optimal price and capacity plan for future seasons. The output of this first stage becomes the input of the second stage, in which the planning problem is solved. At the end of the planning phase, an optimal inventory policy is defined.All modules of the proposed IDSS are supported by a database that stores information about the store and the market. This database is used to estimate costs and parameters in models using a cost estimation support system.The main modules of the IDSS are:Product and material profiling,Work scheduling,Warehouse management,Pricing and planning,Cost orecasting,Inventory management,The IDSS has been implemented in PHP with Ajax and JQuery for the user interface and MySQL for the backend. The system has been tested and shown to be effective in product flow planning in the presence of demand uncertainty.
