MEDICINAL AROMATIC FABRIC FINISHING FOR ELDERLY SOCIETY

Abstract :
This study on aroma- finishing was planned with a survey to know about the health issues faced by the elderly society and the need come up with the solution. Cotton fabric is used for the dyeing the fabric using natural dyes. Dyeing is completely carried out by hand process. The dye materials were collected from the ayurvedic agricultural farm and boiled to prepare dye extract and filtered using filtering mesh. The fabrics are desized and washed with water and the fabric is dyed manually where the prepared extract is boiled with the dye extract. After dyeing they were washed, and shade dried. Then the dried fabrics are finished with the aromatic essential oil by immersion method. The oils used are sandal wood, ylang ylang and bergamot.  Then the finished fabric is given to the elderly people for evaluation. The treated samples were tested for their physical property- olfactometry analysis and their intensity is identified.
