EXTRACTION AND EVALUATION OF NATURAL DYES FROM PLANT PARTS AND DEVELOPMENT OF ZNO NANOPARTICLES-COATED ANTIBACTERIAL CLOTHES
The increasing concern over environmental sustainability and the adverse effects of synthetic dyes on human health have led to a growing interest in the utilization of natural dyes. This study aims to extract and evaluate natural dyes from various plant parts and utilize them to develop antibacterial clothes coated with ZnO nanoparticles for enhanced functionality and environmental safety.
In the first phase, natural dyes were extracted from different plant parts, including leaves, flowers, roots, and barks, using eco-friendly extraction methods. The extracted dyes were then characterized for their color intensity, stability, and potential application as textile dyes. Spectrophotometric analysis and chromatography techniques were employed to determine the chemical composition and colorfastness of the natural dyes.
In the second phase, ZnO nanoparticles were synthesized via a cost-effective and eco-friendly approach. These nanoparticles possess remarkable antibacterial properties, making them suitable candidates for textile applications. The results demonstrated that the extracted natural dyes exhibited vibrant colors with acceptable colorfastness, making them suitable alternatives to synthetic dyes. Additionally, the developed ZnO nanoparticles-coated antibacterial clothes displayed excellent antibacterial activity against tested pathogens, showcasing their potential to inhibit bacterial growth and reduce the risk of infection transmission.
This study provides valuable insights into the sustainable utilization of natural dyes for textile applications and the integration of ZnO nanoparticles to enhance the functionality of fabrics. The eco-friendly and antibacterial properties of these clothes hold promising implications for various industries, including healthcare, where the risk of bacterial contamination is critical. Moreover, the adoption of natural dyes and ZnO nanoparticles in clothing manufacturing can contribute to a more environmentally friendly and healthier society.
