Measure theory and integration is one of the most important  part of modern analysis, with topology and functional analysis for example. It generalizes the intuitive notions of lengths, area and volume. The earliest and most important examples are Jordan measure and Lebesgue measure, Complex measure. A measure m is a law which assigns a number m(A) to certain subsets  A of a given space and is a natural Length of an interval Area of plane figure Volume of a solid.
