COMPOSITES MADE OF DENSELY FILLED HDPE AND GRAPHITE NANOPLATELETS HAVE GOOD THERMAL, ELECTRICAL, AND MECHANICAL CHARACTERISTICS
The influence of graphite nanoplatelets (GNPs) on the thermal, mechanical, and electrical properties of composites made of highly filled high-density polyethylene (HDPE) is studied. With the addition of filler, we noticed an increase in Young's modulus and an improvement in thermal stability. On the other hand, when GNPs content increased, the degree of crystallinity and melting temperature decreased. The addition of GNPs significantly reduced electrical resistivity by 10 orders of magnitude, and filled HDPE showed a 400% increase in thermal conductivity. Thus, functional HDPE composites that are densely filled and thermally and electrically conductive and have outstanding mechanical and thermal stability have been created.
