BACTERIAL BIOFERTILIZERS FOR SUSTAINABLE CROP PRODUCTION: A REVIEW

Dr. K. KARTHIKA, S.MAHABOOH NISHA

Farmers with few resources face soil infertility. Therefore, preserving soil quality helps lessen issues with land degradation, decreased soil fertility, and fast declining levels of output that occur in many areas of the world that require the fundamental necessities. Three main solid components of the soil are minerals, organic substances, and microbes. The physical, chemical, and biological characteristics and functions of terrestrial systems are all significantly impacted. Biofertilizers are substances that contain cells from many kinds of beneficial microbes. Consequently, biofertilizers may play a significant role in integrated nutrition management. Organisms that are commonly used as biofertilizers component are nitrogen fixers (N-fixer), solubilizer (K-solubilizer) and phosphorus solubilizer (P- solubilizer), or with the combination of molds or fungi. These potential biological fertilizers would play key role in productivity and sustainability of soil and also protect the environment as eco-friendly and cost effective inputs for the farmers. With using the biological and organic fertilizers, a low input system can be carried out and it can be help achieving sustainability of farms.
