A STUDY ON WORKLIFE BALANCE AMONG PRIVATE AND PUBLIC HOSPITAL NURSES IN SALEM DISTRICT

What makes some individuals more prospering in their work and life than others. Here comes the role of our Work life balance (the way we tend to manage emotions, both our own and those of others), in determining our happiness and success. In particular, to the nursing profession Work life balance has become an inevitable component. As "Nurse- Patient Interaction" is the pulse of the nursing practice, nurses have to interact with the patients, the medical fraternity and the health care workers constantly. Interaction is a complex process that involves nurse perception, understanding of the patient's emotions and use of the perceptions to manage patient situations towards the goal of effective patient care. The present study discusses about the work life balance among nurses in public and private hospital at Salem district, and the factors affecting the work life balance. It also helps to identifying the emotions that are affecting the work life balance of nurses. The main aim of the study is to find work life balance of nurse. A sample of 130 nurses working in private and public hospitals in Salem district is selected for the study. The primary data collection is done with questionnaire and secondary data is taken from different sources. To identified gap formulate the hypothesis for the study. The study reveals that there is positive relation of work life balance. Study had found the variables affecting the work life balance. The major findings show the strong relationship between demographic variable and work life balance. The research suggests many methods that should be adopted to maintain a good and attaining better for work life balance.
