A STUDY ON FUZZY NUMBERS
Fuzzy numbers have been introduced by Zadeh in order to deal with imprecise numerical quantities in a practical way. We consider eight classes of fuzzy numbers. We define nine operations for the addition of these fuzzy numbers and we investigate interrelationships between these operations. Some interesting modifications of fuzzy numbers are briefly considered. Finally we study some particular classes of membership functions that are closed under certain addition rules.
