A DECENTRALIZED APPROACH FOR ANTICIPATORY VEHICLE ROUTING USING DELEGATE MULTIAGENT SYSTEM
Advanced vehicle guidance systems use real-time traffic information to route traffic and to avoid congestion. However, these systems can only react to the presence of traffic jams, not prevent them. Anticipatory vehicle routing is a promising approach that can be used to prevent congestion by routing vehicles based on traffic forecast information. This project presents a decentralized approach for anticipatory vehicle routing that is particularly useful in large-scale dynamic environments. The approach uses antlike agents to explore the environment on behalf of vehicles and detect a congestion forecast. When a congestion forecast is detected, the agents reroute the vehicles to avoid the congested area. The approach has been evaluated by comparison with three alternative routing strategies. The experiments were conducted in a simulation of a real-world traffic environment. The results of the experiments show that the proposed approach outperforms the other routing strategies, providing a significant performance gain. The proposed approach is a promising new approach for anticipatory vehicle routing. It is decentralized, which makes it scalable and robust to changes in the environment. It is also efficient, as it uses antlike agents to explore the environment and detect congestion forecasts.
