Abstract :
Bumper is a structural arrangement which is attached at the front of the frame It will absorb the shock when the vehicle collides with a foreign body. But the load withstanding capacity of the bumper is very low. If it is a heavy collision the vehicle will get severe damage. To safe the vehicle from this a setup is designed to absorb heavy shock which is produced at heavy collision. Usually the bumper is directly connected to the frame. Here the setup of hydraulic cylinder arrangement with spring is added between the frame and bumper. The high impact force produced by heavy collision is transferred to the setup through the bumper. The shock is totally absorbed by the setup. Finally the frame gets negligible shock and the vehicle is safe
