DYEING OF NATURAL DYESTUFF EXRACTED FROM MEDICINAL PLANT AEGLE MARMELOS TO COTTON FABRIC
Development of fabric by using the medicinal plant for dyeing.I choose the herb aegle marmelos (vilvam) as dye stuff. Then I choose fabric made by natural fiber that is cotton.I choosed this herb because it has good antifungal activity against dermatoph fungus. The essential oil isolated from leaves has antioxidant properties. It consist of phyto chemical activity.
This bilva leave is very special in siva temple for pooja. It is used for many skin diseases treatment.Derivatives of aegle marmelos have shown efficiency in the treatment mycotic infection caused by dermatophytic fungus because of over poplution poor condition. This invaids skin.nail, hair& cause dermatophysis. This herb gives the rice source of antifungal activity. It has goodmedicinal activitry. It will destroy fungi or inhibiting their growth.
So I choose this herb for dyeing cotton fabric. Dyeing process is by natural dyeing. The dye should fixed in fabric. Mostly natural dyeing is not stable. To matain atleast to 1or2 wash mordant is wanted so.I choose alum(aluminium sulphate).
The bael leaves should dried in shade and grounde.Take 2 liters of water & 1 cup of dyestuff. Distill the powder in water.Keep in stove in simer for 1 hour and filter it then add mordant in the prepared concoction .Finally dip the pure cotton fabric and leave it for one night., Then finally dry it. This will show the dyeing of fabric in light brown colour. It will also give antifungal activity. So this fabric will be used for children's garment, kerchief curtains, pillow covers&bed sheet in hospitals etc.,
