DESIGN AND ANALYSIS OF TESTS ON THE PROCEDURES FOR ESTIMATING VARIANCE COMPONENTS IN FARM ANIMALS

D. GOWRI and M. JANANI

In an effort to fully account for the effects of model variability, this study adopted a two-stage nested design with unequal replications. The frequency approach's five various variance component estimate methods, which were chosen at random, were also contrasted in this study. The modified maximum likelihood method was recommended for use because it has the lowest minimum variances among these techniques, which included the Analysis of Variance (ANOVA), the Quasi-Maximum-Likelihood (QML), the Modified Likelihood (ML), the Restricted Maximum-Likelihood (REML), and the Modified Maximum Likelihood (MML).
