A NEW APPROACH TO DETERMINE THE COEFFICIENT OF SKEWNESS AND AN ALTERNATIVE FORM OF BOXPLOT

Abstract :
This study proposes "Rank skewness" as a new method of calculating the coefficient of skewness in order to address issues with extreme value, irregular distance from the center point, and distance between two consecutive numbers. When compared to previous measures of the coefficient of skewness, the suggested measure performs better, particularly for skewed distribution. A four point summary graph has also been suggested as an alternative to the five point summary boxplot and is more straightforward than the conventional boxplot. It is founded on every observation and produces better results than the five point summary.
