SYNTHESIS, STRUCTURAL AND MORPHALOGICAL PROPERTIES OF ZSM-5/ZnO COMPOSITE AND THEIR PHOTOCATALYTIC FOR ORGANIC POLLUTANTS

Ms.A.SUGUNA

In this study, a hydrothermal method was used to synthesize a ZSM-5/ZnO Nano composite which was used to photocatalytic activity degrade methyl orange (MO) dye in anaqueous solution. ZSM-5/ZnO nanocomposite was investigated using various analytical techniques including powder X-ray diffraction (XRD), UV-defused reflectance spectroscopy UV-DRS), and Fourier transforms infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), Field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), and transmission electron microscope (TEM). The FE- SEM and TEM images showed the ZnO nanorods were uniformly embroidered on the surface of ZSM-5sphere surfaces, and the embroidered ZnO nanorods had an average size of 80 ±20nm. Moreover, the degradation efficiency of the ZSM-5/ZnO composite for MO degradation was found to be ˜92 after 180 minutes, which is higher than that of the pure ZSM-5. The ZSM -5/Zno composite was also extensively reused for five photo degradation cycles without experiencing any significant changes in its activity or crystalline characteristics
