SYNTHESIS AND CHARACTERIZATION OF HEMATITE NANOPARTICLES

P.NITHYA

Hematite (α-Fe2O3) nanoparticles were prepared by co-precipitation method for three different pH values (6, 10 and 14).As prepared sample were calculated at four different temperatures (2000C, 4000C, 6000 and 8000C). In air the impact of varying on the pH values on varying the nature of crystalline phase, size, strain, optical behavior and functional group of hematite (α-Fe2O3) was examined. Powder X-ray diffraction pattern disclosed rhombohedra structure. The size of the (α-Fe2O3) nanoparticles varied by increasing the pH value during synthesis. Moreover, the size of the α-Fe2O3 nanoparticles increased while increasing the annealing temperature. Here, Surface functional group and vibrational mode for were observed from FTIR Spectroscopy. The optical investigation exhibited that samples have an optical band gap of 1.8 – 1.95 eV.
