DEVELOPMENT OF A NOVEL HERBAL-BASED ORAL GEL FOR TARGETING ORAL PATHOGENS
Oral health is an essential aspect of overall well-being, and maintaining proper oral hygiene is crucial in preventing various oral diseases. One of the most common challenges in oral healthcare is the presence of oral pathogens, which can lead to conditions such as dental caries, gingivitis, and periodontitis. Traditional oral care products, such as toothpaste and mouthwash, often contain synthetic chemicals, and their effectiveness in targeting specific oral pathogens remains limited.
This research focuses on the development of a novel herbal-based oral gel aimed at combating oral pathogens effectively. The study utilizes natural plant extracts known for their antimicrobial properties, and these extracts have been historically used in traditional medicine for oral health benefits.
The research begins with an extensive literature review to identify potent herbal extracts with demonstrated antimicrobial activity against oral pathogens. The selected herbal extracts are then subjected to rigorous laboratory testing to determine their efficacy in inhibiting the growth of key oral pathogens, including Streptococcus mutans, Porphyromonas gingivalis, and Candida albicans.
The results of this research demonstrate that the developed herbal-based oral gel exhibits potent antimicrobial activity against various oral pathogens while maintaining a safe profile for oral tissues. The gel's efficacy in reducing pathogen colonization provides promising evidence for its potential application as an adjunctive oral care product.
The novel herbal-based oral gel represents a significant advancement in oral healthcare, offering a natural alternative to conventional synthetic oral care products. Further clinical trials on human subjects are warranted to validate its safety, efficacy, and long-term benefits in promoting oral health and preventing oral diseases caused by oral pathogens.
