Dr.V.k.Evanjalene and Dr.R.Subbaiya

Adhatoda vasica, commonly known as Vasaka or Malabar Nut, is a medicinal plant widely used in traditional medicine for its therapeutic properties, particularly in managing respiratory ailments such as cough and bronchitis. This study aimed to explore the phytochemical constituents present in Adhatoda vasica and investigate its potential anticough activity. The phytochemical analysis was conducted using various extraction methods to isolate the bioactive compounds present in the leaves and other parts of Adhatoda vasica. The major classes of phytochemicals examined included alkaloids, flavonoids, glycosides, phenolic compounds, and saponins. High-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) techniques were employed to identify and quantify these photochemical. In conclusion, this study demonstrates the importance of Adhatoda vasica as a potential source of natural compounds with anticough properties. The identified phytochemicals may play a crucial role in alleviating cough symptoms and supporting respiratory health. Further research is warranted to elucidate the exact mechanisms of action and conduct clinical trials to validate the safety and efficacy of Adhatoda vasica as a potential therapeutic option for managing cough and respiratory disorders.
