Abstract :
Margaret Atwood is a Canadian poet, novelist and critic. It focuses on Canadian literature over the twentieth century. The world of Canadian women writers with their immensely rich culture and history has been depicted. Margaret Atwood represents this growing literary tradition. Women have been portrayed in various situations and roles that has been the typical condition of Canadian culture and society. It focuses on the writings of Canadian authors and in particular the writing style of Atwood's four popular novels. The story focuses on the analysis of characters in this novel like Elaine, Cordelia, Stephen, Elaine's father and mother. The focused on the 'Quest for Self-hood' of the protagonist Elaine and finally she attains her identity as an artist. It  deals with summation which observes the aft of writing of Margaret. Atwood and recaptures the importance of female unity, sense of shared brotherhood, power of personal affinity and that is essential in order to survive.
