SOCIAL NETWORKING – AN ACTIONABLE MARKETING MODEL ON THE NET

A Social Networking website is an online application which is user-submitted network of friends, personal profiles, blogs, groups, photos, music and videos which have added a new dimension to the Internet giving people a unique way to communicate. Recently, Indian companies have started showing interest in developing networking sites to use them as marketing application. The purpose of this paper is to explore the business potentials of social networking and how this model can be effectively used to market products and services. Using data from different social networking websites, the author brings out the key findings of an actionable roadmap of how to use social networking as an application tool on the net to effectively market products and services, bringing out the possible limitation of using this marketing model and ways and means of overcoming the limitations.
