GEOGRAPHIC ROUTING AND RECOVERY ROUTING ALGORITHM FOR MOBILE TRACKING IN NLOS ENVIRONMENT
Non-line-of-sight (NLOS) error is a major challenge in wireless positioning techniques. The propagated signal between the mobile station (MS) and the base station (BS) goes through reflection and refraction of many objects in its path, causing position parameters inaccuracy and a large positive error. This paper proposes a novel NLOS mitigation approach based on GBSBEM (Geometrically Based Single Bounce Elliptical Model). The approach first estimates the semi-minor of GBSBEM to restrain the NLOS errors. When the semi-minor cannot be estimated, an optimization method based on GBSBIM is presented. The method has a good effect to reduce the NLOS error, especially when the NLOS effect is notable. The proposed approach is also integrated with a geographic routing algorithm and a recovery routing algorithm to achieve mobile tracking in NLOS environment. The geographic routing algorithm is used to find the shortest path between the MS and the BS, while the recovery routing algorithm is used to recover the tracking when the MS is in NLOS area. The performance of the proposed approach has been evaluated using simulations. The results show that the approach can effectively mitigate the NLOS error and achieve accurate mobile tracking in NLOS environment.
