CARBON DOTS AS A FLUORESCENCE PH NANOSENSOR BY APPLICATION OF AN ACTIVE SURFACE PRESERVATION STRATEGY

Acid monitoring is crucial in the realms of environmental, industrial, and biomedical science. However, due to their size and invasive nature, the most common type of pH sensors, glass pH-electrodes, still have limits in their use in low volume samples and in cellular pH sensing. Such problems are addressed by fluorescence-based sensors, which offer a non-invasive method of pH measurement. Here, we describe how an active surface preservation (ASP) technique allowed for the rational creation of carbon dots (CDs) as a pH nanosensor. Carbon dots (CDs) are carbon-based fluorescent nanoparticles that exhibit outstanding fluorescence performance and desirable qualities like high water solubility, low cost, and good biocompatibility. These nanoparticles are being employed more and more as fluorescent nanosensors. With regard to (photo) stability and other factors, these nanomaterials offer benefits over molecular probes.
