EXTRACTION AND PURIFICATION OF BETA CAROTENOIDS AND PHENOIC COMPOUNDS FROM VEGETABLES
This study focuses on the extraction and purification of beta carotenoids and phenolic compounds from vegetables. Beta carotenoids and phenolic compounds are bioactive substances known for their significant health benefits, including antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. The extraction and purification processes are critical to obtaining high-quality compounds suitable for various applications in the food, pharmaceutical, and cosmetic industries. This review discusses different extraction techniques, such as solvent extraction, supercritical fluid extraction, and ultrasound-assisted extraction, along with purification methods such as chromatography and crystallization. Moreover, the influence of vegetable type, processing conditions, and storage on the yield and quality of extracted compounds is evaluated. The identification and quantification of extracted compounds using advanced analytical tools, such as high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and mass spectrometry (MS), are also explored. Understanding the extraction and purification methods for beta carotenoids and phenolic compounds from vegetables will aid in harnessing their potential benefits for promoting human health and well-being.
