INTELLIGENT TRAFFIC CONTROL SYSTEM IOT

The traffic management system is considered one of the most important dimensions of a smart city, with the rapid growth of population and urban traffic, traffic jams in big cities are often lacking. To solve various problems related to traffic management and help authorities in proper planning, this paper proposes an intelligent traffic management system using Internet of Things (lo). A hybrid approach (a combination of centralized and decentralized) is used to optimize traffic flow on the roads, and an algorithm is developed to effectively manage different traffic situations. To do this, the system takes the traffic density as input from a) cameras b) and sensors and then controls the traffic lights. Another AI-based algorithm is used to predict future traffic density to minimize traffic congestion. In addition, RFID tags are also used to prioritize emergency vehicles such as ambulances and fire trucks during traffic jams, when there is a fire on the road, smoke detectors are also part of this system to detect this situation. To demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed traffic management system, a prototype is developed that not only optimizes traffic flow, but also connects nearby central servers. In addition, it extracts useful information in graphical form, which can help most of the future road planning.
